We may report information about your account to credit bureaus. Late payments, missed payments or other defaults on your account may be reflected in your credit report.

The rate you are charged for loans may not be the same as those charged to others due to your credit history.

Privacy Notice

Carilion Federal Credit Union upholds established privacy principles to maintain the integrity, security, and confidentiality of your personal financial information.

This notice describes our policy regarding your personal information and allows you the option to notify us if you do not want information about you disclosed to other parties.

Throughout this notice, the word “information” refers to nonpublic information.

Types of Information We Collect

Information routinely collected and retained may be derived from account or loan applications or other submitted forms, transaction history, consumer reporting agencies, employment verification and payroll information.

Disclosure of Information

In compliance with The Fair Credit Reporting Act, we may disclose any or all of your information that we acquire.

Information is sometimes shared with third party service providers. Service providers include:

  1. Those who provide mortgage, debit/credit cards, and insurance services.
  2. Non-financial companies, such as computer/data vendors, collection or repossession agencies, credit bureaus, audit firms, check manufacturers, and card vendors.
  3. Local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies, court systems, and government agencies.

We may also disclose your information to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements. We may also disclose information about you under other circumstances, as permitted or required by law.

If you choose to terminate your membership with Carilion Federal Credit Union, or become an inactive member, no information we have collected about you will be disclosed, except as may be permitted or required by law.

Disclosure of Information Exclusion

If you prefer to have your information excluded from disclosure to parties not affiliated with the Credit Union, you may direct us to not make those disclosures. This exclusion will not apply to disclosures that are permitted by law, and will not apply to service providers, or companies that perform marketing services on our behalf, or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.

If you wish to opt out of disclosures to parties that are not affiliated with the Credit Union, you must select one of the following methods to exercise this right:

Ensuring Your Protection

Access to your non-public personal information is restricted to employees who need to know the information to provide products or services. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your information.

ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER DISCLOSURE

The Electronic Funds Transfer Act and Federal Reserve Board Regulation “E” became effective on May 10, 1980. The law establishes the basic rights, liabilities and responsibilities of consumers who use electronic transfer services and of financial institutions that offer the services. After May 10, 1980, any type of preauthorized electronic funds transfer mentioned below are made to your share account, causes the law and the disclosures to apply to you.

  1. TYPES OF TRANSFERS
    A.Direct Deposit of Payroll
    B.Direct Deposit of Social Security payments
    C.Any other recurring payment to your account that is not originated by a check, draft or similar paper instrument.
  2. BUSINESS DAYS
    Our business days are Monday through Friday excluding holidays. Wednesdays we are not open to the public, but some electronic processing occurs.
  3. CHARGES
    There are no additional charges for the types of transfers listed above, but our normal account charges will apply.
  4. RIGHT TO RECEIVE INFORMATION CONCERNING TRANSFERS
    If you have arranged to have electronic direct deposits made to your account at least once every 60 days from the same person or company, you can call Audio Response at (540) 344-7586 to find out whether or not the deposit was made.
  5. LIABILITY FOR FAILURE TO MAKE TRANSFERS
    If we do not complete a transfer to your account on time or in the correct amount according to our agreement with you, we will be liable for your losses or damages. However, there are some exceptions. We will not be liable, for instance, if circumstances beyond our control (such as flood or fire) prevent the transfer, despite reasonable precautions that we have made.
  6. DISCLOSURE OF ACCOUNT INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES
    We will disclose information to third parties about your account or the transfers that are made:
    A.Where it is necessary for completing transfers; or
    B.In order to verify the existence or condition of your account for a third party, such as a credit bureau or merchant; or
    C.In order to comply with government agency or court orders; or
    D.If you give us your written permission.
  7. IN CASE OF ERRORS OR QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR ELECTRONIC TRANSFERS
    Telephone us at (540) 777-1575 or write us at 1030 Jefferson Street, Suite 102, Roanoke, Virginia 24016 as soon as you can, if you think your statement or receipt is wrong or if you need more information about a transfer list on the statement. We must hear from you no later than 60 days after we sent the FIRST statement on which the problem or error appeared.
    A.Tell us your name and account number.
    B.Describe the error or the transfer you are unsure about, and explain as clearly as you can why you believe it is an error or why you need more information.
    C.Tell us the dollar amount of the suspected error.
    If you tell us orally, we may require that you send us your complaint in writing within ten (10) business days.
